Chad, I see what you're saying, and yes, Garrett Hartley hasn't been totally up to par the past few years. But, no matter what happens, I will always be thankful for that kick he made in the NFC Championship game that sent the Saints to the Super Bowl. To make a game-winning kick under that kind of pressure is a special thing. It's definitely not an easy thing to do on that stage (Gary Anderson hadn't missed a field goal all season in 98 before missing the kick in the NFC Championship game against the Falcons).

So yes, Garrett Hartley statistically is not one of the league's better kickers, but on that one kick alone, he deserves a place in Saints' legend.

And hey, let's not forget the disaster that was Olindo Mare/Martin Gramatica!! Garrett Hartley has done far better than those two guys!

Have some fricking respect for Hartley. If you're criticizing him, you haven't been a Saints fan for very long.

We should retire his number.
