I think the most important thing this team can accomplish is getting Davis to sign for the max amount of time. Chris, remember, signed a max deal in terms of salary but not in terms of time.
The need to be winningy enough at the point at which he signs so that he's willing to take the money conferred by the longer deal.

If AD progresses as we all hope he'll be eligible for the Rose extension which he'll happily sign even if the Pelicans become the Kings. That's just too much guaranteed money to walk away from. I think the clocks that are ticking are Benson's age and the fan's patience.
