Florida ace bumped up to first game (tomorrow)

I thought they had announced Crawford was pitching Saturday, but it appears Sullivan is bumping Crawford up.
So, barring a rain out, we'll see UF's ace vs our #3.
This comes with a caveat because Crawford has been battling an injury this year. His ERA is up at 4.06 with a 3-5 record but we have seen in years past that this kid can pitch.

We've got a pretty good shot at rain tomorrow night. The last thing we need is for Nola to only be able to throw a partial game.

This could be good. If they burn him up and LSU is able to tee off on him coming back from an injury they get behind the eight ball with Nola and Eades (who looked good last weekend again).

Sullivan was quoted saying something like "I just worry about him getting through the first inning." So it doesnt appear like he's completely healed yet. While I want to play baseball tomorrow, a rainout might be beneficial for us.

Jonathon Crawford 4.06 ERA, 3-5 record, 64.1 IP, 59 H, 32 R, 29 ER, 27 BB, 52 Ks, .241 opponent batting avg

Aaron Nola laughs at this.

We'll see if he has heeled. He was throwing 91-95 last year and his fastball dropped off; decent slider when he was on.
We need to light him up early

Yeah, I agree. Need to jump on him early because it doesnt appear that he will be able to go late into the game. But if they get 4-5 innings out of him and hold us down, they have a solid BP to stand up. With Glenn on the bump, we need all the runs we can get.

Same thing happened last year at Florida. McCune pitched Game 1 on Thursday and we won.

That's what PM was saying tonight on WWL Radio, he looked at the weather report and didn't want to take the chance that rain would start in the 2nd/3rd

Did he have some recent arm trouble? Looking at the ast few weekends he pitched on Saturday last weekend and only threw 75 pitches, but the 2 weeks before that he pitched the opening game and threw 100 pitches in each.

I don't know what has happened to him this year, but he has had some kind of issues with his arm at some point. Just don't know when. Every time I hear about O'Sullivan talk about Crawford, he's always talking about his arm like its tender or something.

It seems to me like they are playing the weather also....they don't expect this guy to go a ton of innings, so they are letting him pitch Thursday.

He hurt his ankle or foot or something recently I think.
