It's true Chad, had Archie had a better surrounding cast, his career would have been different for sure. Coulda Woulda Shoulda, I know, but hey, like you said, when he was playing on as bad of a team as he was, he couldn't do it all himself ya know?

It's too bad we live in a world where people get credit for what they have actually done as opposed to "what they could have done if only..."

He's #1 on the Shoulda Coulda Woulda done more if he had a better surrounding cast but didn't so lets not start giving him credit for what he didn't actually do list.

Archie actually DID do a lot. Watch him play.
Its really not his fault he was with the worst organization in all of sports during that time period.

he's 6-8ish. For now...

Fixed
Pass attempts 3,642
Pass completions 2,011
Percentage 55.2
TD-INT 125–173
Passing yards 23,911
QB Rating 67.1
Sorry. I fail to see the brilliance of an all team great, potential HOF QB in there.
Please enlighten me.
ETA: And look, I'm not here trying to bash on Archie for no reason, I just don't think he's an "all time great" Saint as far as production on the field.
I get that he's a beloved part of Saints history and all that. Yes he probably had more potential than what he actually put out there.

1. Drew Breesus
2. Willie Roaf
3. Ricky Jackson
4. Deuce McAlister
5. Marques Colston
Honorable Mention: 3/4 of the Dome Patrol, Jahri Evans, Joe Horn, short tenure of Darren Sharper
Also, Steve Gleason: No White Flags has made just as much, if not more of an impact than any other player in saints history. His inspiration started on the field in the '06 dome opener, and continues to touch hearts off the field throughout the city, state, and even country.

Deuce McAllister: Averaged 4.03 yards a carry the last 5 years of his 8 year career. 1 of his other 3 years he didn't even really play. His best year with 1600 yards or whatever only topped him 4th on the NFL rushing list that year.

Definitely agree with that. I fully believe this man was the straw that broke the camels back for us winning a superbowl.

WTF kind of bullshite cherrypicked "stat" is that?
If you want to talk about ypc, why not include his entire career?
1429 car, 6096 yds, 4.3 ypc, 49 TD

You can do that too, but 6 of his 8 years in the league, he was nothing but ordinary. 2 good years that were very good but not elite. Joe Horn >>> Deuce McAllister.

1. Drew
2. Roaf
3. Rickey Jackson
4. Sam Mills/Pat Swilling/ Vaughn Johnson (rickey is separate because he's only HOF but whole dome patrol deserves a spot ranked #1 linebacking core of all time)
5.) Colston, but i think Jahari Evans takes this spot eventually
Sorry old schooler's. I know Archie was exciting back in the day and the whole (but he didn't have a team) argument has been used to death. Colts went 1-15 without Archie's son they didn't have a team either and he still put up numbers. Archie just didn't produce anywhere he went. Still love the guy though but not top five

I guess it's time to haul out the quotes:
"If I'd played for the Saints and Archie'd played for the Cowboys, he'd be the one in the Hall of Fame" -- Roger Staubach
"There may a debate over who was the Best on the Best, but there is no question that Archie Manning was the Best on the Worst." -- NFL Films

Joe Horn 61st all time in NFL in career receiving yards
Deuce 75th all time in NFL in career rushing yards

That Staubach quote only proves that cowboys were a stacked team at the time and the saints sucked.
Like saying if Alex Smith was on the current 49'ers team, he could win a Super Bowl.... He may not even sniff the playoffs with the Chiefs

I've seen alex plays and I don't think he's very good.
I saw almost every game Archie played and I think he was very good.
Two sons...three superbowls
Good QB genes I reckon.
