The timing is ridiculous. Now that he's not on a nba teams payroll he's coming out. The NBA looks like the bad guy when no team wants to sign an attention whoring 35 year old who hasn't been any good in 3 years.

So he should come out in the middle of a season? He'll get bashed for the distraction.
So he should come out in the offseason after he signs with a team? He'd get bashed for the baggage he's bringing to the team by not announcing it beforehand.
So, when should have he done it that would have been acceptable?

It's also when he has the least to lose while the topic is a hot one right now given the Supreme Court...
It's a perfect storm for him.
He's not attention whoring and this isn't fake in any way.
You guys are ignoring or just don't understand the impact that his coming out has on others who are closeted, both adults and youth.
