I'm not liking the premise of this episode at all if he's seriously running for Mayor. If it's just a joke then I'd be more open to it.

He's probably doing it for a case like when he went on that reality tv show.

That's the great thing about the show though. It keeps clicking on all cylinders even with what could be gimmicky episodes with any other show. Though, as has been said above, I'm pretty sure it's going to be as part of an investigation.
