You are the one making the argument circular.
Teams need a great QB in order to win Super Bowls (the vast majority of the time). Great QBs are rewarded after their careers by being voted into the HoF. That isn't curcular. That is one thing happens, and then another thing happens.

I'd say you're both right. You generally need a great QB to win a superbowl. But you could have a QB better than Manning and Brady put together who would never win a superbowl if his teammates couldn't get their jobs done. It wouldn't make him any worse than a superbowl winning QB, and superbowl winning QB's wouldn't have a right to call themselves more talented than him.
Don't tell that to ESPN, though.
