Daft Punk is better than any EDM artist out right now. (Feels strange putting that here, but EDM fans seem to be enamored with everybody not named Daft Punk)
i love daft punk but this is a bogus statement. how are they better than everyone? they havent put out much music at all in their careers.
their music is great but it almost seems like their popularity has grown moreso because they dont put out that much music. all you heard about daft punk the last few years is oh i wonder when theyre gonna tour again. i wonder if theyre gonna put out another album this decade. theyve been getting more popular by not doing anything.
edm is as good as its ever been production wise and daft punk hasnt been doing anything compared to plenty of the heavy hitters.
just off the top of my head, a group in the past few years that i would put way ahead of daft punk is pendulum.

"EDM" is a pretty dumb phrase and I don't think Daft Punk even fits that category anymore. Their latest song was recorded with the traditional guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums. Sure they became famous via house music 18 years ago but they have evolved since then.
They also have a big crossover appeal. I know several people that hate DJs and that whole "scene" yet love Daft Punk (hip hop people from the Kanye collab, top 40 listeners, and especially jam band fans)
