Has anyone discussed this yet? What round did he think he was going in that would make him jump ship so soon?

He thought that he would get hurt again and possibly never get drafted or play in the league. The knee scared him and he bolted. It happens.

Probably fourth
But remember the new rookie scale. It's not the first contract. It's the second. That's the retirement contract.

If he gets drafted than thats a better round than Ciron Black. I think that is what he was worried about.

HE made the biggest mistake of anyone IMO.
He could have had his stock SKYROCKET after a great year at LT next season. Now he will have to fight very hard to make a roster and earn a crappy contract (in comparison to a 1st/2nd rounder).

get drafted as mid late - round pick > coming back to school and possibly suffering career ending injury.
He'll learn more in the NFL and he'll be able to concentrate on his craft while getting paid several hundred thousand starting off.

If Faulk gets hurt again at LSU he's Ciron Black or Will Arnold all over again. I don't blame him much for leaving.

stay in school and improve draft status or get injuried again (it happens look at lattimore)
leave school early and be a 4-7th round pick with 1-2nd round talent.
I say go ahead and go in the draft, work your tail off and sign a 3 year contract. after 3 years cash in and become some teams dominant LT.
Its not like he couldn't look behind him and see all the talent we have on the Oline at LSU and what if he came back this year and didn't play very well and was replaced at LT by collins or someone else then he for sure would not have been drafted in the 2014 draft.
I would like the saints to take him in the 4-5th round this year.

The draft isn't over yet! Also UDFA may allow him to chose the best opportunity for him. a year on the practice squad is not a bad thing in his case.
