I have a hard time killing things older than me, kill the softies and let the snappers go.

You're a smart man to notice that but I didn't, really. In fact had a heckuva time getting him to keep still long enough to take his picture.

He immediately went into a big tub with a few crawfish and a few shiners. They'll be his last meal and slaughter awaits in 10 days or so.

Well if you have a drivers' license you're WAY in the clear with these.

Badass turtle, Geaux.

He is full of hate and deserves to be eaten.

me and geaux are trying to get a turtle trip together on my property either June 15 or 22 weekends if you're interested. I have a place to stay and even if we don't catch there will be plenty of beer consumed by me for sure.

I appreciate the invitation.

Geaux has my email. When y'all lock in the weekend, just let me know. I'm definitely interested.

Thanks again.

Let me know and I will catch some of them and someone can come pick them up, just tell me how to keep em alive, etc.

What city?

They are easy to keep alive. I keep mine in a laundry bucket (photo on pg. 2)

I feed them table scraps in said bucket.

Pg. 2 has a link to the first major turtle thread, as well.

Entertaining and informative.

I've got 30+ nice soft shells in my backyard bayou as well, but I thought they were illegal to catch and keep without permits?!

Nope. You need a basic fishing license (fresh).

Limited to one alligator snapper, any size.

Absolutely no sea turtles.

No other regulations on common or softshell in LA.

Gimme a sec, I'll link the regs.
