So if Vacarro replaces Jenkins then we more Malcolm to corner?
If he replaces Harper do we cut roman?

They're not going to cut anyone imo. This allows you to move guys around in the defensive backfield based on personnel packages a little more.
Jenkins will play in the nickel sometimes with vacarro at free safety, vacarro will play in the nickel sometimes with Jenkins at free safety..he'll play at strong safety sometimes.

Maybe Jenkins because I believe he would live little to no dead money. Also I think he brings the least value of the two.

Doesn't make sense to cut Jenkins to me, his contract isn't that expensive and he's in the last year of it I think. Might as well let him play it out.

This might be some sort of bizarre new nickel-base defense to combat the mobile QB; play all three safeties a good amount, in an attacking 3-3-5 defense.
Maybe they move Harper up to a psuedo-linebacker position to blitz and play in the box. Same personnel, Harper back to a deep safety with Jenkins playing nickel.

If they don't think he's worth it, cutting him will save 2.5 million. Basically a swap for Vacarro and retain some cap for bargain FAs

The Ryan's do like to mix up the packages that way. Rob's got a very diverse defense..lots of different fronts and he's always been good at manufacturing a pass rush but you can't really manufacture coverage, especially on the backend.
It's really only a short term thing. I wouldn't imagine they'll resign Jenkins unless he shows up next year.
