So let's see where this takes us. And let's assume that I have not much knowledge with PC and the average gaming PC is $1,100.

Gaming PC costs:

$1,100 cost of PC
$25 avg game price= $1125

23 games: $575

Total: $1700

XBOX/PS:

$300 console cost
$60 avg game price=$360

23 games: $1380

Total $1740

So it appears as if the breakeven with no upgrades and modifications will be 24 games. That's where PC wins from a financial standpoint

But this is very flawed comparison as most games are only $60 for a month (if that long) and the smaller budget games cost the same they do on PC.

You could ideally get much lower number if you filled up on indie games or big package sales, or you could get a bunch used console games for much less. I also don't think you have to spend that much on the PC or console.

I think $2000 might be on the high end for a super badass PC. Most folks are probably in the $1000-$1500 range I'm assuming

So should I adjust my calculations?

I spent $1000 on mine which is a very common budget number people set.

$850 can build a gaming computer that runs everything on High/Ultra settings in 1080p

Sure. I'm not positive and I don't game on PC. Just basing that on most threads and posts I've seen. 2k seems to be the exception.

For example, nappy spent about 1200 if I'm not mistaken and he's got a pretty nice PC

I promise you I don't have nearly $25 average in the price of my PC games.

Console games it seems like $40 would be a safer average.

Ok I'll go with $1100 just to be safe. And to the laughing assholes, I told you I have no idea.

There appear to be many variables. So let's stick with $60 on console since I know that is how much they cost. What is a new PC cost for a game? Is it close to $25?

New PC games like CoD, Battlefield, and Far Cry are all $60 when they come out as well. A lot of PC stuff starts out at $40-50 as well, most people just wait till sales.

then perhaps you should have asked first and made the analysis afterwards.

$850 is all you need. Spending more is only because you WANT to.

Actually they are usually $50 for those games in digital distribution but usually can easily be found for $30-$40 even around release day. I have yet to pay $60 or even full price for a game and get everything that I want on release day.

I would say the average I have in all of my games MIGHT be $15 thanks to all of the constant sales. $20 on the high end.

Last time I paid >$40 for a PC game was Shogun 2: Total War because I needed it day one.
