Hijack --
I will be in Memphis in early May, mostly in the downtown area. I'm enjoying the food recs and will be referring back to this thread before heading out myself. What are some good/fun drinking spots? I'll be looking to relax with a delicious beer and/or cocktail in the evenings and I'll be there for at least 3 days. I'll also probably check out a playoff game if the Grizzlies can make it out of round 1, which isn't looking likely. Any more great sugestions are very much appreciated.

In downtown proper - some good bars are flying saucer, bardog, the brass door and the peabody lobby bar.
You can take the 5 minute trolley to south main and hit up some places like earnestine and hazel's (mostly late night, though), green beetle, and spindini.

I'm just going to name a bunch and you can decide what you're looking for.
Blind Bear (replaced Bar None on South Main mall) - it's a speakeasy. Like them on FB to get the password to avoid cover. It's laid back.
Silly Goose (used to be where we went before they opened Blind Bear, they are kind of similar).
Flying Saucer - waitresses wear short skirts. Best beer selection. Live bands most weekends.
Tap Room - this is on Beale, but it's a little hole in the wall. If you're there on a Thursday night, check out the blues band that plays there starting at 10 p.m.
Earnestine & Hazel's is definitely a late night place. Supposedly haunted. Also used to be a brothel.
Raiford's - if you get really shitfaced by midnight and want to dance at a disco with light up floors (and pay $15 to get in) go here.
