Curious know what Maryland's number is. I know the ACC won't get $50 million, but at what figure wouldn't have made sense for them to leave.

Wow. Game changer
ETA: It's been finalized by ACC presidents today.

The Atlantic Coast Conference Council of Presidents announced today
that each of the current and future 15-member institutions has signed a
grant of media rights, effective immediately.
"This announcement further highlights the continued solidarity and
commitment by our member institutions," said ACC Commissioner John
Swofford. "The Council of Presidents has shown tremendous leadership
in insuring the ACC is extremely well positioned with unlimited potential."
"The ACC has long been a leader in intercollegiate athletics, both
academically and athletically," said the collective ACC Council of
Presidents. "Collectively, we all agree the grant of rights further
positions the ACC and its current and future member schools as one of
the nation's premier conferences."

Weak flame. ACC looked dead in the water until this.
ACC lives on

Good for the ACC. I'm glad that they were able to lock their league down and I'm glad the "future" of 16-20 team conferences has been at least postponed.

I, for one, am glad the ACC will survive. They have been a conference for so long, it would be a shame for UNC and Virginia to end up one place, Clemson, NC State and Duke elsewhere.
I think this temporarily halts expansion among the Big 5 conferences (for at least 5 years). The next move will be the Pac 12 trying to raid the Big 12 to get to 14 or 16, like it all started last time.

SECTards have been morons about this the entire time. Most of them have no clue of the intimacies of so many of the schools.
ACC is never breaking up. Ever.

More Sports Derpsters Wrong Once Again
I suspect that all people who use the word derp to belittle people who dare to have a differing opinion are the real derpsters.
quote:
means that every school is granting the conference the revenue from certain broadcast rights. Even if a school were to leave, its TV money would stay within the league until the end of the deal.
I'll go out on a limb and suggest this would have a difficult time in court, but derp, what do i know?
