Hindsight is 20/20 but I would have liked to see Bonvillain in 10th

Obviously easy to say after the fact but I was hoping for a change to Bonvillain following the SAC bunt in the 10th. Would have been lefty (Miller), righty (Roberts) and lefty (Salem) due up if no pinch hitting (although it's a pretty safe to assume that they would have PH a righty for a lefty with 2 out and runner in scoring position).

I thought Bourgeois did fine other than the HBP and the loss certainly isn't all on him with the error on Ibarra, just wondering if anybody else would have made a pitching change at the time?

Really excited to see Cody Glenn have a quality start on the road though!

Pitching had nothing to do with that loss. Errors did.

That decision didn't bother me nearly as much as not bunting Laird after McMullen leadoff with a double in the 8th.

I absolutely agree, just throwing a hypothetical out there.

And if Raph would have Raphed like he usually does we would have won in spite of the errors.

i wouldnt have brought in bonvillain with the bases loaded considering he either walks or hits every 4th batter he faces.

Baseball is weird. Most days, our strong hitting would have overcome the unusual string of mishandled routine ground balls.

Don't think Bonvillain would have made a difference Sunday.

This. Bunt him over in the 8th and LSU wins in 9 innings.

I was okay with letting him hit with Raph's inability to get a hit in RBI situations this weekend along with his seeminly innate ability to hit into double plays.

I think PM was trying to play for more than 1 run in the 8th with the hopes that Laird would at least pull the ball if he didnt get a hit. With 6 outs still to get i guess he didnt want to play for just the 1 run. I probably would have bunted as well, but i dont think it was nearly the mistake people on here are making it out to be.

Agreed, wouldn't have made a change with bases loaded but I would have considered bring in Brent with runner on 2nd 1 out following the SAC bunt.

i gotcha. i dont remember what the next two to three hitters were coming up (lefty/righty). plus since multiple people including cotton were unavailable PM probably figured he needed to get extended work from as many people as possible instead of playing a lot of situational pitching.

I think people just find it kind of frustrating that CPM will take the bat out of Laird's hands w/ nobody out and a runner on first in the first inning, but NOT have him bunting in a situation like this.

I called for the bunt in the 8th at the time as well. I have a lot of confidence Bregs gets the RBI with runner on 3rd and 1 out.

I understand playing for a big inning but with our bull pen dealing 1 run is enough most nights.

You think CPM bunts in this situation come tourney time? I say he probably does.

Well, I've been to 23 home games this year and 6 on the road. And I can promise you, it's happened.

And btw, Laird flied to left. I was there.
