For those that listened to the game today, what was your impression?

I was confused most of the time because the person calling the game would not actually talk about what was going on. Sometimes he would stop describing the action mid sentence to start complaining about the outcome of the play.
He also seemed to be bitter about sharing the microphone, because every time his broadcast partner tried to interject, or even answer a question posed by the play by play guy, he was rudely cut off.
It's a shame that more games on TV because without being able to see the games, fans that want to follow the action are forced to listen to a confusing call performed by an angry person.

I listened to all three games this weekend on the radio and it was fantastic.

I don't get as upset about the play by play as most on here. When calling action live, I expect a mistake or two. I did think that the Bama guy hit a walk off home run in the ninth inning, but that just adds to the excitement. If I was watching it live, I may have been wondering if the ball would stay fair myself.
My problem with Hawthorne is the in between plays discussion. He does let his pessimism get in the way of his calls. Also, I will agree that he will get confused at times, and he doesn't let Hannegriff, the guy paid to give in depth analysis on the game, explain what or why something is happening.

Which is way better than reading posts like this, written by pathetic little trolls trying to stir up shite.

I listened to some of the game (watched the video feed which was god awful for part of it) and didn't have a problem.

I was reaching for my radio to turn it off. Just before the volume went too low to hear before it clicked off I heard..........."Foul."

Wanting a better listening experience is trolling?
Baseball and radio go hand in hand, like they're made for each other. But our current play by play man makes it very difficult to enjoy the broadcast.

Hawthrone Does not understand some of the basics of baseball and he demonstrates it each game he broadcasts.

It was the worst called game I have heard for any LSU game. There were what seemed like minutes that went by with out any commentary. I think Hawthorne must have had to take a squat or something. We had to get up and check to make sure the radio was still on. Hannegriff was horrible...

Coming here week after week, game after game bitching and moaning about Hawthorne hoping to get a few other of the constant whiners to join you is indeed trolling.
If you don't like Hawthorne don't listen. You aren't forced to. If you can do better, audition for the job.

That statement leads me to believe that you haven't listened to many baseball games. I guess you would have been one of those shocked listeners that complained about Dizzy Dean saying "Slud".
But I guess if it somehow validates your manhood to show up here and whine about Hawthorne week after week, game after game, you need to to it.

Please point me in the direction of the alternate LSU radio broadcast for the baseball games and I will happily tune into that one.

I'm not sure how you can put a response this simple minded and expect to be taken seriously.

I'm not sure why that is, but you've already displayed in this thread that you are a little slow, so I guess that's why you read my comment completely wrong.

I'm not an English teacher. I'm an LSU baseball fan. You'll notice I've taken no issue with our broadcaster's grammar, only with his poor style and poor attitude.

people on here wouldn't be happy with anyone. that ball was way out of the park. from his vantage point you could easily see that. but you couldn't tell it was foul until it got near the pole. i guess he should just wait until the play is over then describe what happened for some of you nitwits who hang on every word from a radio. then you'd be complaining that he waits to long before telling you what just happened.

So tell us what was your motivation for starting yet another thread bitching about Hawthorne. Weren't the previous (probably) hundred or so inadequate?
What new and exciting insight did you wish to provide for us?
Where you just reaching out to fellow Hawthorne haters for comfort in your hour of distress.
In general, considering all of the many threads bitching about Jim, why was yours needed?
