Sons, Gasol was an All NBA center on 2 Laker title teams and 1 team that lost in the Finals. Excellent post defender, top 10 in rebounds and blocks in his years as LA's center. The best passing big man in the league, hands down.

Once Bynum developed/got healthy and Howard came along, he moved to the 4.

Let's also recognize that this "old" fart is averaging 18/12/7 since he returned from injury. You can hate on his price tag, but the guy is far from done and most definitely can play center. Let's get the facts straight here.

I'm a Gasol fan. However, making the move suggested in the OP doesn't do shite for the team long term.

same here. gasol has been killing it since he returned from his injury. he obviously is still a top tier player but the pelicans aren't at least for the next few years gonna be any type of contender and snatching pau would not make us an instant threat. pau may be on the decline when we are hoping our window begins, we need to focus on younger players imo fwiw.

Yeah, unless we make a nice run in the playoffs, I think Gasol hauls arse to a contender for his final few seasons as soon as his contract is up. We may be able to get a few mediocre pieces in a S&T at that point.

I agree. He makes like $20m a year. Not really conducive to what the Pels are trying to do.

I like him as a player as well and didn't want to see him slighted
