I have a GSP and I've never got that?

That's because a GSP LOOKS like a mix breed, is a hunting dog, and a relatively unknown breed.

because shelters are full of good dogs that will be put down when no one adopts them, and people don't like that instead of adopting a golden retriever that would have most likely been just as good as your dog, you spent $1k to buy one from a puppy mill.
LOL. dogs die everyday. you should get pissed at the people who get dogs then drop them off at the pound instead of the people getting pure bred dogs instead of those pound dogs.
also pippy mils dont charge 1000 for dogs.

I always have wondered who the frick would want a rejected mix breed loser dog.

A status symbol? Please. I don't see how my dog elevates or deteriorates my status in any way. It's a dog.

sarcasm

I personally choose to go to the pound and adopt. I'm not going to impose my beliefs on someone else and call them bad people for it

Not true at all. Like I said earlier, purebreds may be a better choice.

If you are a person with a family, you want a dog that socializes well with children and animals.

This is not easy to determine spending 5 minutes with a dog of an unknown breed and temperament.

Many "breeders" are simply running a puppy mill, and they are forcing their animals to live in bad conditions until they are sold.

so how is it not considered rescuing to get one of these dogs???

quote:

If you actually look around you can get the type of dog you want at a shelter.

you find me a pure bred corg puppy in a rescue near you please.

quote:

Personally, if you are just looking for a companion then in most cases it is silly to spend all of that money on a pure breed.

how con you say "personally" and then make a broad statement that you think applies to everyone?

Never had this happen.

FWIW, I tried to rescue a dog. Had to fill out a shitload of paperwork, and then didn't get the dog. It was like getting denied a loan. I said screw it and and got a purebred from a breeder.

I now have two dogs. They get taken to the horse park to run for about 2-3 miles daily with 2-3 other dogs of my friends. I wonder what happened to that dog I was denied. Probably in an apartment in downtown Atlanta and gets a 2 block walk every other day on the street

I had a Cockapoo that I bought from a breeder. If people have a problem with where you get your dog, kindly tell them to go frick themselves.

I’m tired of being chastised by holier-than-thou dog adopters for buying my dog.

If you can find what you are looking for from a shelter you really should adopt rather than buy. That being said, the problem isn't choosing a breeder over a shelter, the problem is irresponsible pet owners. Is your dog fixed or fenced in and not running around the neighborhood doing the deed with other dogs? If so you have nothing to feel guilty about.

actually pure breeds usually have more health problems than mutts

yup - purebred often has a lot of inbreeding issues.

thats not to say anyones terrible for getting one, the reasons that most people have tend to amount to "but ew, thats a mutt" when broken down to the baseline. for those that have working dogs i can totally see wanting to invest in a bloodline but for your average lounge around the house mutt, why not save a pup

I'm not going to sit here and bash you by any means, but when theres thousands upon thousands of dogs locked up in shelters this sort of annoys me. Some people, not saying you, think they're "too good" for shelter dogs. I got my corgi/terrier mix from the Ascension Parish shelter for 50$ and he is an amazing dog. Incredibly loyal and smart and took very well to training. It's like they're forever indebted to you for getting them out of there.
Another reason is I just can't imagine spending hundreds of dollars on a dog from a breeder when i can get a needy dog and give it a home for pennies on the dollar.

my mutt has been perfect with everyone, including the neighbor's kids and other dogs she's been around.
