Yes.
It's hard to describe a supernatural show as also gritty and realistic. They had just the right mix on the cast - this is the kind of show JJ Abrams wishes he could make.

If you mention J.J. Abrams and Carnivale in the same sentence again, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you. Carnivale puts any JJ Abrams work to shame. And it's not sci-fi, which is all Abrams does.

That's not hating, that's truth. HBO fricked us again, just like on Deadwood. Carnivale was such a great, super weird and mysterious show. Great characters and writing. The ending was rushed because it was canceled.

Did you even remotely get that I was taking a shot at Abrams, suggesting such quality work as Ca... this show we're discussing... is beyond his reach?

I was so happy when I noticed that. I've been watching it yet again. I just wish HBO would have gotten the stick out of their arse and allowed it to stream on Netflix for awhile since it hadn't been available (save for $40 season sets) for years.
And it is incomplete but that's because it's was only a fraction of Daniel Knauf's material. But it had amazing production value and a good storyline that grabs you.
I'd recommend it to anyone.

Yes, good lord, I was messing with you. I was saying he who shall not be named isn't even worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Carnivale. In essence, I was agreeing with you, but I was trying to be funny. It failed miserably apparently. Sheesh.
