Can a William Gibson Novel Be Translated to Film?

frick hit enter too soon.
I'm rereading Mona Lisa Overdrive. So, I decided to check up on the status of Neuromancer in Hollywood. Apparently the movie is being cast right now. No one is confirmed but Mark Wahlbern and Liam Neeson are attached.
I guess Mark would be Case and Neeson would be Armitage.
Not sure about the casting, but I've been wrong before and actors have surprised me.
Really, my question is can Gibson's books be made into quality movies. Johnny Mnemonic sucked, but I don't know if that was anyone's fault. It's just hard to translate Gibson's crazy AI, Cyberspace, Voodoo, Otaku dystopia to the screen.
And is it too late to make this film?
