Actress Natalie Dormer has lined up a new role on CBS' "Elementary."

The actress will play Irene Adler opposite Jonny Lee Miller's Sherlock Holmes, CBS announced on Tuesday.

Natalie will appear in a three-episode arc leading up to the two-hour Season 1 finale, which airs on May 9 (10-11 PM ET/PT).

Irene is Sherlock's former lover on the CBS drama, who has not yet been seen, but has been mentioned.

We're moving to the next chapter in our show - and in some ways, to a previous chapter in Holmes' story," Executive Producer and creator Rob Doherty said in a statement. "Irene Adler is perhaps the most pivotal relationship in Sherlock's life, and I can't think of an actress better suited to the challenge than Natalie."

Is this show any good? Sick Boy from Trainspotting is awesome and I always have had a soft spot for Lucy Liu.

I've watched it since the beginning. It's one of only two new shows that premiered this year worth sticking around for along with Arrow, and it's good because of the cast.

Has it been mentioned how much she looks like Jeff Tweedy of Uncle Tupelo/Wilco fame? Someone on a message board where I lurk pointed it out. She and Jeff Tweedy have the same face. It kinda spoiled her for me.

I like it. It's not Sherlock-calibre...but it's one of the better new shows on TV as others have mentioned.

Margaery Tyrell pretends to care about poor people just like Tweedy does. It's settled; she's Jeff Tweedy with tits.
