Lews Speed Spool

Any Lews fans in here?
I am thinking about getting a Lews Speed Spool. Any reviews? Which model should I get?
I will be mostly salt water fishing, but nothing offshore. I don't fish enough to justify spending $200 on a reel, so I would like to keep it under that.

I know several bass fishermen who swear by them and have used a few on occassion. The general concensus is that they are great for freshwater but they don't have a long enough track record in salt water to risk it.
I would go with a Revo S or SX. You can find a new in box Revo S on eBay for $120ish

Get a calcutta instead. A 200 would be great for whatever you can want to do

I use the tournament edition for freshwater. Haven't tried them in salt, but I hear they don't hold up very well.

Rayvegas loves lews.
My brother has one, I forget what model it is, for the money, that thing is great.
They do not hold up in saltwater.

Thanks, but judging from some of these comments I won't be going the Lews route. I hardly ever fish fresh water and apparently Lews sucks in salt water.

How much are you wanting to spend?

Been a Lew's fan since the 80's. Problem is, there is no one Lew's. The name has been bounced around from Shimano to Browning to who knows. Last purchase was some outfit I had never heard of.

Lew's was to bass fishing in the 80' and 90's what the revo is today.
Those older models did hold up well in salt water as they were being used by 90% of the guides down around big lake.
As the other poster said, the company has been bought and sold numerous times and the quality isn't the same.

Get that revo inshore that was posted for $190. I have the old inshore if you want to try it out first

Only problem is I will buying this reel with academy gift cards
Otherwise I would be all over that inshore!
I am really considering the Revo STX

Buy 4 H20 mettels. Just kidding, don't do that.

I picked up two curado's for 100 a reel today. Only fished a couple of times.
