When a hitter pretends to get hit and rub his arm like that has got to be the most embarrassing act a player could commit at this level. This is 100 times worse than any NBA flop.
I'd like to know his thought process. Did the player tell himself "if the ball comes close, I'm gonna try to fake out the umpire"
Does van horn "encourage" his guys to get on base by any means possible? It was only the 3rd inning so there was plenty of time.
I remember Derek Jeter had a play where the ball hit the knob of the bat, not his hand, the umpire immediately gave him 1st base. Jeter wasn't hit but he never acted like he was either
