I am going to be in Tuscaloosa for the LSU/Bama baseball series and we are looking for a place to get a steak one evening as well as a couple places to get lunches and beers. I have not been to Tuscaloose since 2007. I hope the options have improved since then.

Not a steakhouse but a good restaurant nonetheless.

Are we talking pre-franchize dreamland or current.

Well, he would go to the original which isnt like the franchises. Archibalds is so much better and has the same great sauce.

Archibalds for sure.
Nicks in the sticks has great chicken wangs as well.

Depalmas - Italian
Chucks Fish - sushi, steak pasta etc
Mugshots - burgers
Hokkaido - Japanese
Bento - Japanese
Surin - Thai
Moes BBQ - smoked chicken wings are amazing
Baumhowers and Wings U.

I want to say its cypress inn.
Ate their last time. Pretty good.
Isn't there another place on a river just out of town that is famous for its fried food?

Haha sounds like any typical Alabama restaurant.
Could be thinking of Nicks n the Sticks, they have lots of fried options.

City Cafe is in Northport. Its a meat and 3 veg place, but its not on the river.

Not so different from BR.
I am thinking of a place that looks a lot like Cypress Inn but we had to drive a bit to get to it. I could be thinking of another road trip--they tend to run together.

Absolutely dreamland, much better in Tuscaloosa than the franchises.
How many of y'all recommending archibalds have gone to the original? We stopped on our way to Knoxville a couple years ago and thought for sure we had the wrong address. Though the food was really good.

My Bama alum cousin recommended Jim 'N Nicks for BBQ. Is it any good? So you recommend the original Dreamland as best BBQ?

Jim and Nicks is solid.
And no, Archibalds is better than the original Dreamland. I wouldnt do Archibalds for dinner because it is a smoke house and some picnic tables. Dreamland is a bit of a tar paper shack, but it has an inside.
