no, it comes from an old english term for separating the flax from other fibers by dragging it through nails. the tow is the light colored useless byproduct of the process

towhead = blonde

I, uh, more meant entomology vs. etymology. Thought maybe it was an M/TV board joke I was oblivious to.

I knew tow-headed meant blonde, but I didn't what it was derived from. Thanks for that
