I'll wait on him then. It's not a beautiful gun but it's old. It definitely has some wear. He carried this in the military during the riots at Southern.

That may be a 1913 model. I could be wrong though.

From Colt's Serial Number Database:

Your Serial Number, 318034C =

quote:

1968 "1911 .45 (COMMERCIAL) WITH C PREFIX, INCLUDING 1ST MODEL NATIONAL MATCH (1933-41)"
This is an approximate date. For a complete firearm history contact Colt's Archive Department.

So 1968. Sounds about right. He was in the military at that time.

KR is really a closeted Glock guy. He's still in denial.

Beat me to it. Was just coming to post this.

And to OP, KR is the self proclaimed 1911 expert on the board.

Not sure if anyone on this board is a 1911 "expert".

There's some big 1911 advocates though.

I think it is the easiest handgun platform to shoot, bar none. I'm no expert when it comes to handgun lineage and serial numbers, but I do like me a good 1911.

My one piece of advice is this - don't get rid of that thing.
