Shopping on Academy web site and it may just be cause I'm in my ohm but all I can find are tungsten weights. Same for bass pro website. Anybody else noticed it or am I the only one that still uses lead?

Low Lead production standards hit the faucet/fixture/plumbing/appliance industry about 3 years ago. The government rolled it out in small steps over a few years as not to cause a big scene. 12/31/2013 is the deadline (final set of regulations) for most products to meet Low Lead standards in the industries I mentioned above.....I have to assume that its the same for all products that were made of lead.

I guess it's like all things. Why offer a cheap alternative when if you only offer the expensive ones people will be forced to buy it.

I thought they tried to ban lead weights and the senate killed it. This was a year or two ago

yeh....i dont know the correlation behind "my" industries' challenges with lead and fishing weights....but I have to imagine it is related.

Probably if there was more awareness of the laws that are being passed regarding this, much of it wouldnt be passed.....but again....much like the gun laws, so many people dont know/stick their heads in the sand that laws/restrictions get passed when it isnt always in the best interest of THE PEOPLE....

END OF POLITICAL RANT...
