We have never been a good defense, but a decent and opportunistic one at times, but it my opinion GW is an under appreciated coach and the reason he blitzed so much is that we just didn't have the talent to play it straight. I think he really did a lot with a little.
But the rule changes have made it almost impossible to play great defense anyway as shown by the playoffs this year when all the "great" defenses got torched game after game. With that said I just don't want to have to have the ball last or be up by two touchdowns with a minute left to have any chance to win.
We have not gotten pressure on opposing QB's with our front 4 (or 7)in so long I have forgotten what it looks like. You have to be able to do that to have any chance, in my opinion.
Maybe there are some pieces that we can grab to accomplish this. I hope so.
