Will the basketball team have any transfers?

With all the talent we have coming next year do you see any of the current players like Corban Collins transferring?

I hope not. I like having a deep bench. I think having a few program kids are a good thing and actually provide stability over the long-term. Never know when a guy could be a senior and a great contributor.

I'm just waiting to find out about JOB3. I do think I remember SOS saying in a thread that one was possible. Can't remember who though.
Sorry, know I didn't help any

Only transfers I could see would be Collins or Courtney

How would we look on depth if one or both transfer?
Posted on 4/4/13 at 9:42 pm to Tiger Live2
Why would Courtney transfer at this point? Seems more likely it would be Collins if anyone.

We'd be fine, neither would play next season anyways, both would be 3rd on the depth chart (at best) at their position

Neither Courtney or Collins would play any significant minutes on the team next year. We'll have 13 guys counting both and they are #12 and #13 in the pecking order (#11/#12 if Malone redshirts) in terms of playing time.

That's kind of what I though, from what I have read on here, but I certainly won't pretend that I follow basketball as closely as others. I watch more baseball, and don't really follow recruiting for either.

We should have a 10-man rotation next year IMO with our up-tempo style.
I see these guys getting the minutes in order of most to least.
1. Hickey
2. JOB III
3. Stringer
4. Odo
5. Mickey
6. Martin
7. Morgan
8. Coleman
9. Quarterman
10. Hammink
Keep in mind this is not a list of who I think is better than who, just how I think minutes will shake out.

With an up_tempo, I would prefer a 12 man rotation, more like VCU. Granted they do it even more than us. And also this is only CJJ's first full recruiting class.(baby steps)

Help me if i'm wrong

Realistically 10 for next year is the target because you really dont want Courtney or Collins on the floor in tight games. This is assuming Malone redshirts which I think we'll be comfortable enough to do so and he really could benefit from. I think Malone will be just shocked at the pace coming over here and will need the year to adjust and get comfortable. Something Hammink could have used this year if we had more bodies.
In 2014-2015 we could probably go 11 even 12 deep though. One day we'll have a roster full of capable players, crazy what we're coming from just 2 years ago which was...
JR. Garrett Green
JR. Chris Bass
JR. Malcolm White
JR. Storm Warren
SO. Eddie Ludwig
SO. Aaron Dotson
FR. Andre Stringer
FR. Jalen Courtney
FR. Matt Derenbecker
FR. Ralston Turner
We're going from that to...
SR. Andre Stringer
SR. Jalen Courtney
SR. Shavon Coleman
JR. Anthony Hickey
JR. Johnny O'Bryant III
JR. John Odo
SO. Malik Morgan
SO. Shane Hammink
SO. Corban Collins
FR. Jarrell Martin
FR. Jordan Mickey
FR. Tim Quarterman
FR. Darcy Malone
....in just 3 seasons

Oh I wasn't criticizing, if that's what it sounded like. I guess just more of a wish.
Yes, it is amazing where we should be compared to where we were. CJJ has done a great job so far at getting some talent here, and will need a couple more years to really get where we all hope. Considering where we were, and for CJJ to get a top 10 class in his first full season of recruiting is nothing short of amazing.

Courtney isn't going anywhere. Though he isn't a major contributor on the floor he is one of the team leaders. He's the guy that gets in the middle of the circle before games and hypes the team up. He'll be a senior no reason for him to leave.

Courtney is not going anywhere nor should he.
Collins is not a highly ranked recruit but is a hustle guy that in times of need this year did play well at times. He has pretty good physical tools 6'3.
Bottom line just having 5* recruits every year will not gurantee a team anything. But having strong leadership and hustle combined with talent and athleticism will be great.
As others have said having program players is not only a bad thing. Take Kentucky this year as an example. Also NC State while not the same situation one of the main reasons Purvis left was minutes and when you have 4 players on the court that all demand the ball it becomes a problem.
I also applaud Jalen Courtney and Corban Collins hopefulky they stick it through, get better, and come next year to compete.

Why would you say this? He doesn't hurt our team and honestly he isn't bad in the paint. There is no reason to say something like this about an LSU player who hasn't done anything to hurt the team. GTFO

Not sure who it was but someone brought up the idea of Collins moving to a 2 guard role, given his outside shooting, which doesn't seem like that bad of an idea. I think it's apparent at this point that his future is not at the point.

Odo will NOT be that high in minutes. We play a fast paced game. He'll undoubtedly get more minutes than Andrew did, but you'll see the more athletic guys on the floor for the most part.
