Was supposed to play the part of Bart as well until the studio nixed the idea.

Its interesting to think about. Its hard to think of anyone else playing the part, but it would have been interesting to see Pryor play that role though.

Supposedly they couldn't get insurance. You can never tell with Mel, but he alleges that he wrote the "black" parts and Rich wrote a bunch of the "white" parts, but they bounced them off each other to gauge what was funny.

I thought Cleavon delivered the lines with a certain style that elevated it above what Pryor could have done with the material, genius though I think Richard Pryor was.
