It seems that the curved plate would deflect the round better than a flat plate. Deflect more energy and what not.

Deflection is bad because you don't know where the round is going to deflect to. You want the round to stop.

Plate armor is great, just don't buy kevlar and the like for "prepper" type applications becasue they degrade over time and only last 5-6 years.

Plate armor may be heavy, but it is a better option.
