that's the same as recruiting crap. as a college baseball coach, you have to be able to manage your recruiting and focus on guys that have a realistic chance at actually going to college. smoke never did that. it's pointless to get a bunch of guys to commit that will be drafted in the first 10 rounds out of high school.

We probably would have the most MLB players if they actually signed with LSU first.

Thank you. I was thinking this very thing. Recruiting one player you expect may not play for you and concentrating on others who likely will is OK, but when you recruit unsignable players year after year and are left with good (I hesitate to say crap, because they were still better than a whole lot of players out there) but not elite level players filling up your scholarships, that's on the coach and is bad recruiting.
