BJ Upton was better than Michael Bourn offensively last season using WAR.

Upton had a 3.4 oWAR and Bourn had a 3.2 oWAR.

He was slightly better at offense last year, and ordinarily I'd prolly take BJ Upton THE HITTER over bourn, but not in a braves lineup that already has uggla, mccann, etc. and lacks a leadoff guy. I'm surprised the braves went after BJ upton knowing this.

Bourn is hardly the poster-boy for the high OBP, low-strikeout rate type team you seem to favor.

definitely not the worst, either. But upton certainly fits that mold.

FWIW I don't necessarily prefer high-obp/low strikeout guys w/o power. I just don't advocate building an entire lineup without anyone like that.

I have always hated BJ Upton though. If he finds a way to live up to his potential, he'd be a monster and he would be an amazing signing for the braves...

I understand what you're saying, but Prado and Chipper were the key losses when it comes to high OBP, low-strikeout, high average guys, not Bourn.

And the Braves couldn't really do anything about losing Chipper or Prado. Chipper retired and the Braves had to give up Prado to get J. Upton.

Well Bourn is an average OBP, high strikeout guy with no power.

Heyward is probably going to be around .275/.350/.500 with 25 and 25 at worst. While being among the top right fielders defensively. And that might not even be the best numbers in the lineup. I'll take that
