Restaurant IPO Review

Went two nights ago. I was excited to try a new place in BR. Wow, what a let down. One of the few times that I was actually embarrassed for the establishment. The food was that bad. Me and my date started with soups. I had the smoked carrot bisque, she had the shrimp and corn soup. I don't even think you could even call theses dishes "Soup" both were so thick, the texture of pudding, our spoons could stand up strait in the bowl, and both were over seasoned with pepper and salt.
Next, we ordered several rounds of Tapas. After a long wait, the waiter returned to let us know that they were out of 2 of the dishes that we ordered. What we finally ended up with, was.
Duck Crepe - Salty, soggy / mushy crepe topped with a think layer of Borsin Cheese.
Truffle Spaghetti - Bland grey looking meatball with bland pasta
Roasted Oysters on the Half Shell- These would have been tasty, but they were topped with several dashes of Hot Sauce. This just killed the dish.
Redfish Ceviche Tacos. Bland and watery, made the shell soggy.
Deviled Eggs with fried oysters - This was the dish we enjoyed the most, 3 deviled eggs, each topped with a crispy fried oyster.
On the up side, we order a few rounds of cocktails, and they were fantastic. Maybe it was a off night, but allowing those "soups" to come out of the kitchen was just embarrassing. Unfortunately we won't be back.

I had this when I went recently. My main complaint (and it is, I think, a serious one) is there was hardly any duck in it. Perhaps two pieces.
If you don't mind me saying so, your review is harsh to the point that you're letting your disappointment drastically color your perception of the place to the point that its over the top..ie mushy, bland, bland, watery, soggy..you're getting carried away and its hard to take the review 100% seriously

I really wasn't trying to be over the top. I had heard a few good things about the place, and was excited to go. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was some of the worst I think I have ever had in a while.

You had all the wrong things
The stuffed portabello and grits and Grillades are the top two items on the menu.
Unless that was the two they were out of, you should have gotten them. Outstanding.

I mostly agree with the op, my exp wasn't quite as bad. I had the stuffed portobello. It started off pretty good but was so damn greasy f/ all the andouille, i got sick of it half way through. Someone else had the grillades and I had a bite and they wer good but it's hard to get too excited over that dish. Cocktails wer good but if u specialize in cocktails u should be able to make a sazerac or at least have a bottle of rye behind the bar. I'd give it another shot but I certainly wouldn't recommend to anyone

Gotta admit I was disappointed the one time I went there. Had the duck and it was overcooked. Apps were pretty good though
