It's a weird little gun. I'm think my grandpa brought it back from Europe after WWII.
Never heard of the company

That looks like a pipebomb with a handle.

I don't know why that page has "FG 42" at the the top, because that's a German machine gun. If you read further it shows your handgun as a JP Sauer Model 1913...but I doubt you've never heard of them before. JP Sauer and Sohn collaborated with Swiss Arms AG to create some very famous weapons...Sig SAUER P226, P220, etc.

I've heard of sigs obviously. I thought that this was a cheap knockoff

Honestly I had no idea so I checked Gunbroker. They only have one for sale with a "buy it now" price of $419...but it looks to be in much better condition.

Yea it's a shame but the one we have seems in rough shape.
I'm actually a little scared to shoot it. I do trust German engineering but the gun is old and has not been well taken care of.

I am not sure about that particular pistol but I have a J. P. Sauer und Sohn GmbH model 202 takedown rifle and it is probably the best made firearm that I own. I would assume anything from this maker is top notch. I think they are the oldest firearm manufacturer in Germany. Good find.
