Ok, question to the fellow LoL'ers. There was a moment in my learning of how to play LoL on a decent level where everything just randomly clicked one day. I'll never forget it. It was the first game that I actually had a good game with Zed. My first 10 or so games with him were awful. I did nothing but feed. Partially because he was a new champ to me and his learning curve was extremely high for someone of my experience, and partially because I was new to the game in general. The same game I figured out "Hey, Zed isn't so bad." was the same game I figured out, "Hey, we don't have vision on dragon. That's an issue. I better buy some wards and help out." and "Hey, when my mid-laning counterpart goes to gank a lane, I need to follow.". It all clicked at one time and suddenly LoL didn't seem so confusing. Any of you have that sudden moment of revelation or was it just a gradual learning experience?

Speaking more to this, I feel that being elite (or even above average) at a game such as this, it's not so much about your mechanics (as those become naturally repetitive after hundreds of matches), but moreso about your knowledge of the game itself (ie: knowledge of items, situations, and most importantly knowledge of champs strengths and weaknesses so you know when you have an advantage, what strategy to use and when you need to play more defensively).

For me this logically seems like it would come from just playing the game as much as possible, but with the sheer amount of champions it seems almost impossible to become THAT knowledgeable without having LoL being your full time job.

How do some of you guys do it? I constantly watch matches, streams of good players, read articles written by great players, etc... and I still feel like I'm not even 10% into the knowledge I should have to even be an average player. What do you guys do to get better aside from simply constantly playing the game?
