It is pretty clear, that the organization doesn't want to spend a ton of money at that position. I don't know why we would change our minds a couple of weeks into free agency and then give away a first round pick as well.

Bingo, they already have cut good paychecks to the guards, one will be going to the center (hopefully) next year. You can't pay everyone big bucks on your line and expect to have decent weapons to give the ball to and a non-terrible-record-setting defense.
