Here pretty soon in the next 2-3 months ill be purchasing a new set of clubs. If y'all could give me some insight on the best product for the money, my budget is $1000. I want to clubs to be forgiving but not to forgiving, as I am not very good right now but am dedicated to getting better.

Has anybody hit the new Nike Covert driver? I'm going new for everything, driver-irons-wedges-putter.

Thanks guys.

1,000 for irons or 14 clubs? If just irons, Ping G25 or Callaway X Hot. As far as Nike Covert, hit it and didn't like it. That was more about shaft than the head though. Stiff was too whippy.

Try game improvement and super game improvement irons at a fitting with a professional fitter

People will hate it on this board, but it's a good club. Get fitted and try other drivers as well.

The best advice I can give is to NOT lock into a certain brand/set during the fitting process - be as open-minded as possible and the optimal results will surface.

I was pretty impressed with the set up at Dick's sporting goods. They have a bigass selection of clubs to choose from and you can hit them all you want in the store. The prices are low too.

1,000 for everything, you're going to need to get used irons and driver. Callawaypreowned.com has certified authentic clubs for great prices. Same at Globalgolf.com. eBay is a risk as their are counterfeit clubs all over the place.

This. And just buy them online.

Someone posted a great deal on fitted Ping irons a few weeks ago. I don't remember what set or where though.

I would wait for new clubs. Put new grips on the set you have and invest in lessons. Once your ball striking becomes fairly consistent, then invest in the new set. The key to a new set of clubs is getting fitted. There are just too many variables in everyone's golf swing.

If you're serious about getting better, you will have to practice a lot. And your swing will develop and change over time. How long it takes will depend on how much you practice.

Mizuno JPX-825

If you don't mind waiting for your clubs to be delivered order from discountdansgolf.com. They sell below retail but you have to email or call to get price quotes. Everything ships directly from the manufacturer.

If I had a budget of $1000 to spend on golf and I was dedicated to getting better, I would get some lessons before investing in clubs. A shitty golfer is stil shitty even with great clubs, but a great golfer is great even with shitty clubs.

I agree with this, but I think it's more fun to practice/play with a nice set of clubs that you enjoy. I know a newer set of nice irons feels a lot better to hit with than some old Pings from 1997.

To the OP, I think your best bet is to get a used set of clubs, preferably 1-2 models old than current.

I reccommend the Titleist 710/910 series:

Irons-AP1 710s
Hybrids-910h
Woods-910f
Driver-910 D2

You can find these on ebay for great prices. Only buy from sellers with high feedback ratings. There are a lot of ebay golf stores that sell legit clubs.

Mizuno makes the best irons. Never hit the ones below but I would expect great quality.

$500

The 2012 R11 irons are also $500 at Dicks

You can get a 2012 model driver for $200. Rocketballz made a pretty good club.

Fairway wood $150. You could get a Rocketballz to match. I would suggest a 5 wood for a beginner. Its easier to hit and will give you more control.

You can easily find a quality putter under $100, maybe $75.

You can find a wedge for around $100, nothing more than 56*. Cleveland and Titleist are the best.
