I played for coach in high school, and still communicate on a somewhat regular basis.
I can assure you, he gets the most out of whoever he has, and is the best motivator I have ever met. Also he came relatively late in the recruiting period to SLU, couple that with transfers and graduation he was behind. But I will say this last year at JCJC, he won a national title with a small "undersized" team, the first in Mississippi history. He will be involved in the community and will get great support. With his connections from my alma mater, in the greater New Orleans metro area, and now the Mississippi JUCO basketball system, you have enough talent to compete certainly in the Southland and beyond.
For instance Tyndall made USM a contender taking JUCO guys out of Mississippi and tailoring a system to that. Tough nosed defense, fast paced offense, and a very good fundamentally sound rebounding team.
