I will say that they need to do some serious tweeking on the "airborne" physics. The airplanes have close to no stall characteristics (you can be going VERY fast and if you stall you act as if you are in weightlessness.

Agree completely. Trying to fly an airplane is damn near impossible without losing something off the aircraft.

ETA: Was able to get this guy back on to Kerban. Landed a bit north of the space station though.
