Bass fishing in Des Allemends,updated

I'm trying to broaden my bass fishing horizons and plan to fish Des Allemends this weekend. I'm originally from NELA so this marsh bass thing is new to me. Trips to Cataouatche and Bayou Black have only taught me the importance of clean water since I never found it. Any suggestions on factors to finding bass vs reds or specks and navigating skinny water without destroying my boat would be appreciated.

Bayou desallemands is wide as hell. Won't have to worry about the skinny marsh canals
