This is a sabermetric-focused article on how the winning % for a given team tends to increase once you hit the 39th-at-bat of games mark.
Seems they did some analysis of game-breakdowns in MLB, and once teams hit 39 at-bats or more, the chances that they won the game increased noticably.
On the one hand, it makes sense...the more chances you're getting at the plate in the game of baseball, the more times you're having success. But that 39th AB seems to be a tipping point.

I don't know if this statistic is applicable at the collegiate level, but just assuming it is and applying it to our team, why wouldn't we want to see at least one extra stick ala a Rhymes, etc. in the earlier part of the order to also get those critical extra AB's to get us past that magical line of demarcation?
Just some food for thought that the other thread re: shifting and juggling the lineup and batting order rang a Pavlovian Bell for me on.

"Once they came back with that information," said Peterson, who advocates for the use of biomechanics and advanced analytics in pitching through his company 3P Sports, "that answered my question. You've got to manage your bullpen [because] it's critical that the 3-hole hitter doesn't come up for the fifth time."
Here's why: Since 1991 home teams that have faced fewer than 39 opposing batters in a nine-inning game -- four full times through the lineup, plus three additional hitters -- win roughly three-quarters of the time (74 percent) while teams that have faced 39 or more hitters have won only 31 percent of games.

Good stuff, but is it really that hard to figure out that if you send most of your guys to the plate 5 times its a good chance you are scoring some runs?

I would have agreed with this notion earlier in the season, but the way laird and bregman are hitting, its hard to argue it
