I can also see a scenario where the deal involves a swap of Jason Smith for Taj Gibson because Deng for Gordon gives no cap relief and Smith is $5 million per year cheaper than Gibson once his new deal kicks in next season.

Yeah, Gordon for Deng and a 1st is a trade most of us can't make fast enough. Gordon and Smith for Deng and an $8 million per year Taj Gibson feels more like a dumping Gordon trade than a win win. But that's kind of what I think a trade with Chicago would end up looking like.
