True.

Would cops be Ok with me placing a GPS receiver on their card and making their vehicles whereabouts known 24/7?

That doesn't counter your point, but I find the thought interesting.

Say this is allowed. How long before LE has drones flying 24/7 orbiting around a gps tagged vehicle?

Shit, cops take steps to shut down Facebook pages identifying DWI checkpoints. I think you already know the answer to that one.

Installing a listening device to monitor a persons communications is illegal. How is installing a tracking device not illegal when it allows the government to monitor who a person associates with, which the constituion guarantees freedom of?

Yea, there is no grey area in my book. Its easy to see the government is trampling the constitution at every turn. The ACLU is really the only organization fighting the Feds. I mean, think about that?

Now prosecutors are honing on Scalia’s exact language, arguing that the Supreme Court’s decision only specifies that the installation of a GPS constitutes a search, while the tracking that follows does not.

Not long, but they don't need GPS for that. There are analogue solutions to tracking with IR and thermal optics. They are Much more reliable and don't run out of batteries or emit electronic signature.

Hahaha. Yeah, they suck.

My friend got a ticket for flashing his lights to warn others of a speed trap.

I am always vigilant about the possibility of cops when I flash my warnings, because I KNOW the cops would love to write me a ticket for it.
I did just read that a guy successfully argued that flashing his lights to motorists was covered under freedom of speech.
