I forgot to look for this thread this morning...some of my thoughts:
I thought the twins were really good, though one (the one who opened it song) seemed to kinda shine more than the other.
Ursher and Shakira seem WAY eager to turn around for almost everyone.
Ursher seems to think he's way too cool. That was kinda annoying. And put your damn knee down, playa.
Not really liking Shakira so far. At all really. frick Christina, but I feel like she at least deserved to be on there because even though she's a count, her voice is pretty amazing. Shakira I feel like isn't really famous for her singing as she is for her performances and whatnot. I feel like I'm not explaining that as well as I could...
Still need to get Carson the frick out of the family rooms. Stop fake hugging people, dude.
The pity standing ovation for that one chick was stupid...she wasn't very good and didn't deserve that just because she was upset and cried. Also hated Adam walking over to hug her for some reason.
frick Ursher on the Beiber shite...that was weird (and stupid). And oddly enough, "beiber" turned to "briber" on my phone last night as I was typing notes.
I've always kinda liked Usher...I hope this show doesn't make me hate him. But he's off to a bad start.
That one black dude KILLED that Whitney song. He was awesome, but I hope he doesn't get pigeonholed like Trevin did last year to where he only sings songs like that (by women).
Loved that Adam told that last chick she sounded as good as Christina, and I hope she was watching and it pissed her off. Also, she was good, but I didn't think she was as good as the judges seemed to though...but I guess that's why they're there and I'm watching at home.

IMO the best ones were the white guy in business casual attire doing the LMFAO song and the dude singing Whitney.

Also gotta love him in the room after nobody turns around for them. Telling them "Hey, singer that just lost...they were SOOOOO close to turning around for you.." doesn't ease the pain there, Carson. Same thing when nobody turns around and the judges all sit there and say shite like "You're an awesome singer" and "You really deserve to be on the show...I wish I'd have turned around." frick that...they don't wanna hear that bullshite.

I guess in my mind I think of most of these contestants as undiscovered talent. But the last girl sang cheek to cheek with MJ. You would think that she would have already been "discovered" at this point. Maybe that was her best song last night..we'll see how she does down the stretch. Didn't last years winner seem kinda average till the end?

They have had people like this from the very first season. Hell, both Cassadee Pope and Javier Colon (Seasons 1 & 3 winners) had had record deals before getting on the show. There have also been at least 3 former Mouseketers and at least 2 former Broadway performers, so it's not like she's the Lone Ranger in that aspect.
