I honestly like the thought of him there. He's a tackling machine who has been in the system for years. I think chief wants to keep Barrow on the outside if he can help it.

It sounds like DJ Welter got a majority of the MLB reps in the scrimmage. Miles said the job isn't locked up, but Welter is on his way.

Same one who has hardly played special teams and missed all of last year because if academics? Yeah, no thanks. He can take Fruge's spot on special teams though.

meh, he's a senior and has been around the program for a long time. Chavis is trying to do right by him and give him the first crack at MLB. Barrow will be over there soon. Hopefully flanked by Jones and Alexander.

I trust Chavis 100%. But lets be honest. Going from Minter to Welter is one helluva downgrade.

I'd venture a guess that Welter won't be one of the best three come Fall time.

I want the Jones on the field to be Debo more then Tahj. I like Tahj and he is definitely SEC caliber. But Debo is a playmaker..plain and simple...needs to see the field a lot .

Just watched his highschool highlights...purely fundamental player...i see speed but not quickness. however, he seems to always be in the right place. he could be a solid middle lb if he has speed on his weak and strong side. if he has to chase down some of this speed at Rb he may have a problem but if his strong and weak side can funnel those runners to him then he will most likely produce...imo

How many tackles does one have to make to be a tackling machine? 5 plus?

How many career tackles does Welter have? He isn't a tackling machine. Minter is a tackling machine. Welter is an upperclassman who is getting the first shot. He won't be starting after the first game or two.

Oh shite.. Watch out.
Haters ignite!

Fwiw I nor majority of LSU fans haven't sen enough from welter to make any assumptions on his potential contributions in 2013.
If the kid can play he will.
If he cant wont.
