Something I learned from watching Community DVD commentary is that whichever writer introduces a new character in an episode gets paid every time that character appears in the show (or another show). So whoever came up with Frasier and Munch (if it wasn't the main producers/writers anyway) got way paid.

It's probably not very much, comparatively speaking

Whoever created the Frasier character got more, since that character was the basis for a TV series. But even then the writers might not have had a good deal.

I do know many writers have been screwed out of profit participation, such as those who created Good Times and Welcome Back Kotter.
