I would say that if more African-American youth embraced baseball, we would have many more on college rosters. I have heard it said by black kids, "baseball is a white sport". Many don't even give it a try.

I actually was thinking about this watching the USA play yesterday. Jimmy Rollins, Brandon Phillips, and Adam Jones all made it in baseball. I wish more youth in the African American community would give it a chance.

I am not a Dale Brown fan, but I do admire what he did for Lyle Mouton when he was playing both sports for LSU. He told Lyle & his family that " there are a lot of 6'5" guards in the NBA, but there are few to none 6'5" baseball players in MLB". Lyle promptly quit basketball & went on to be a star at LSU & played many yrs in the pros.
