I'm guessing its taking a while because long wants more than they are willing to cough up...he will probably get 9 mil a year but the saints may only be able to afford 4-6 mil

Saints can afford whatever they want. They have to see the value as being necessary for the right player.

My buddy called and told me we signed long. First place I came was ere and then NFL dot com. No confirmation I called him back and said his intel was wrong

Long was definitely a top 2 tackle his first 2 years in '09 & '10.
but he started slipping a bit in 2011 before he tore his bicep.(I think) Came back healthy in 2012 and was way under-performing again before ending his season for the 2nd straight year. Now, I'm not saying he isn't a good tackle but how much of an upgrade over Bushrod would he be in our system with Brees? We do not need to be over paying to get him or any left tackle at this moment.
Charles Brown and/or Marcel Jones MIGHT be able to fill the gap at LT for now. But I don't think Payton is gonna rely on that happening for sure, so I think we definitely draft a Tackle in april.
IMO, going this route ^^ for the tackle position is what is likely best for our situation right now.
