You keep saying that, but it doesn't make any sense. We need to bring in another guy that can block, and he's doing that on almost every play. His stats aren't much different than Logan Stokes'. His stats also aren't much different than any of our TEs last year.
What doesnt make any sense is pure blocking TEs. Whoever came up with the idea to use a small OT essentially with no hands as a blocker has absolutely no imagination. I still have no clue why many teams still use blocking TEs.
It's pretty simple, if you are going to run, bring in an extra OL over a blocking a TE. Stanford has been doing this right for a while now. Also, a OT typically will be a much better pass blocker, so say you run play action, the extra OT will be a much better pass blocker than your "blocking TE" (if he doesnt go out on a route). Even if the blocking TE goes out on a route, the defense knows he's no threat, so he's a just a complete waste at that point.
The "blocking TE" position needs to die. It has absolutely no schematic advantage over bringing a OT out there instead. TEs are supposed to be decent blockers and decent receivers, not just decent blockers. If all you have is a decent blocker at TE, he's worthless in the grand scheme of things.

Who said he was a pure blocking TE? I said he's a guy that can block. He was also freakishly athletic in high school, so I assume that if we're still recruiting him, which we are, that he hasn't lost all of that. We can't just take tall thin guys that look the part but never lined up next to a tackle, there has to be balance.
The rest of your little diatribe is obsolete since you decided to argue against a concept no one purported in this thread. But keep on tilting at all those windmills.

Buddy, you're embarrassing yourself. I'm not even going to get into the merits, they're so obvious. Simply consider that many coaches at the pro and college level are doing it. You think maybe they just don't know as much as you?
